I do hope her babies hatch out, if they do I'm sure the tears will start up all over again, they will be happy tears though.Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12326069783582536184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8377621409604161109.post-6012338264392314372012-09-14T12:06:47.486-05:002012-09-14T12:06:47.486-05:00I'm so sorry to hear this :( She was a great g...I'm so sorry to hear this :( She was a great gal, and I know how much you adored her. I hope all 6 of her eggs hatch out healthy chicks reminiscent of their mama. I hope you can find some solace in that you did provide her a freedom that not many chickens will ever experience, and nurtured her with lots of love. Take care Kelly - Hugs. I love that they can chase the grasshopper all the way across the yard without hitting a fence, they are free birds and I love watching them walk wherever they please. Thanks for your kind words, you always seem to say the right thing ☺Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12326069783582536184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8377621409604161109.post-47311601610624886902012-09-14T06:33:44.540-05:002012-09-14T06:33:44.540-05:00Chickens, especially, are more vulnerable to preda...Chickens, especially, are more vulnerable to predators than any other animal/fowl we keep. They're living, breathing creatures and have their own personalities we grow to love so it is, indeed, very hard to lose them. Sometimes we have to change how we keep our birds so they are safer. Other times we have to come to terms with the realization that even if we lose a couple now and then, the free and fresh air life we give them makes up for it. I think providing them with the best life we can, sometimes no matter how short, is our greatest gift to them.Mama Peahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03649357184167949247noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8377621409604161109.post-51773687035363229122012-09-13T19:50:28.771-05:002012-09-13T19:50:28.771-05:00Thank you Beth! I loved that little chicken, she was spoiled rotten. My husband and one of my kids say they would never have anything that hurts them like this. I don't understand their thinking, that chicken gave me 364 days of joy and one day probally two of misery. I think they don't like to see me hurting is the problem. I can't help the way I am. I care, I love, and I cry, this is me. I lost a similar hen and hatched her eggs after she was gone. I have built the palletsade and haven't had any problem since they have been in the more secure area, they liked running around free but they were free for the taking.Sunnybrook Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18135224259672444423noreply@blogger.com
