Babies are hatching!

I'm soo happy! I think this first baby is a giant Cochin. I will take a picture with my Giant Cochin rooster just so you can see how huge he is! Anyways, this hatch isn't like my others, there's new breeds in this one, and this mamma is excited ☺

  1. I never had any that were that color, my hens had yellow or white looking ones. I have a large black hen with feathers on it's feet but never got any chicks from her, she had no interest in setting. These will be good birds if they aren't all roosters.

    1. My giant Cochin hen was sitting in the 5 gallon bucket with little black Silkie but I made her get out when I moved the nest to a secure spot. She was so big I didn't want her to step on the little ones and Mrs. Puff had been sitting on the eggs longer so she won the mommy role ☺

Roosters either go to freezer camp or take the place of older ones around here. My first batch of babies was five hens and one roo (sold them), the last batch I traded five to the Homestead Lady and out of the five I have left four are boys :/

  4. Baby chicks are one of the sweet joys in life!
Sunny: Yeah, but roosters are soooo cute when they are trying to crow! My Charlie is molting - he is the funniest looking rooster you ever saw. Half naked, no tail feathers and his entire neck is bare. Even the hens are laughing at him!
