My life this week in pictures

My first ever batch of mozzarella. It was good not really any flavor but the tomatoes and the basil from the garden gave it a little something ☺
My pumpkins are starting to come on! I have several of these little Cinderella pumpkins and a pie pumpkin. I've got a lot of blossoms. I'm going to fertilize this patch to make sure I have jack o' lanterns for Halloween!
My cherry tomatoes are overwhelming! Enough said!!!
My mother in law brought me three barn stars today!!! I'm so in love with them! I've been wanting some since I painted the barn but since I never leave my house and refuse to pay retail for most things I haven't found any. Luckily MIL is a yard saler and remembered that this girl was wanting some barn stars ☺
I harvested all my cantaloupe to make room for my Fall garden and had more than we could eat so, I've started a batch of cantaloupe wine............. I will let you know if it's good :/
Have I ever mentioned my LOVE of compost! We have the worst soil here it's all rock and clay so I add my compost to my gardens whenever I can. Right now it's going in the strawberry patch that I'm trying to de-weed and put to bed before Winter. Homegrown dirt makes me happy, happy, happy!

Have a great week ya'll☺

  1. I have used old hay and leaves, about anything I can find that will rot good, to make soil. People leave old rotting hay laying around these parts, not sure why they bother to bale it and let it rot but I don't let it go to waste.

    1. I have a lot of poo in mine so it doesn't take long to turn into black gold ☺

  2. Your tomato's look wonderful!! And you made mozzerella! YUM! How do you do your compost? Do you have an open air pile? Do you cover it? Use a bin? I think that might be our next project this spring.

    1. My compost bin is three sided fence with two 2x12 boards stacked in the front so the stuff doesn't come out. I actually have two compost bins one will be left to work down while the other one is filled up. I don't cover them. We do try to turn them and keep them wet. I will take a pictures. They are my pride and joy ♥

  3. That mozzarella looks awesome! For some reason, my goat milk just won't cooperate when I try the citric acid versions. I've wasted more milk making nasty dairy boogers. I can make it with a gallon of store milk all day long! So frustrating.

I love the red barn and stars. Let me know how the wine turns out. I was looking up wine recipes the other week and someone had a recipe for whey wine. They commented that everyone thought it was gross. There's a way to sell a recipe! Sounds vile to me.

  4. Kelly...I've missed reading your blog! I'm going to catch up and try to get a post or two on mine. My Mozzarella is pretty tasteless too. I did some research and ordered Lipase Powder to put in it. Mine just came in the mail today and I will be trying it this weekend. I want flavor in that cheese!
