Still here just not here, lol!

I'm still alive, I just haven't had time to be on Blogger for awhile. I am so behind on reading everyone's blogs, I need to get caught up on what ya'll are doing!
The weather here is absolutely freezing again. I'm done with Winter! My hands are dry, my face is dry, and I'm constantly cold. I spend too much time outside in this weather trying to keep the critters watered. Today when I woke up it was 3*, and of course I have a rabbit due to kindle. I won't breed my rabbits in the Winter EVER again! The stress of keeping the hutches warm and toasty is too much. So far she hasn't pulled fur. I prayed all night that she would wait at least until this afternoon or tomorrow, which is supposed to be much warmer. I hope she waits until then, but if she doesn't I have a heat lamp directly over the nest and it feels pretty warm. She's a first time mommy so I hope she doesn't scatter them :/ We will see, and I will let you know how it all turns out.

The hubs gets his stitches out Tuesday. He has been staying off his leg so it doesn't swell up too much, but when he is up he's trying to walk on it more. I hope he gets back to (some what) normal soon, he's getting stir crazy.

My Tom turkey has gone NUTS! He flogged me two mornings ago, today I have a giant bruise on my thigh. I was shocked! We get along really good. I talk to him all the time and he follows me everywhere. They must be about to mate or something and he's just lost his mind :/ My little one is petrified of him, so they got to go. The hubs uncle who took our wild pig wants them. He loves animals, he never eats any of his critters, so they will have a good home.

I don't think I told ya'll but I got a female guinea pig. Her name is Veeta. Our boys name is Cheese (silly kids). Well she's pregnant! I saw the baby moving in her stomach yesterday so today the hubs and I built a second level to the guinea pig palace so we can move Cheese to his bachelor pad when the pups get here! I'm thinking she was knocked up when we got her. Cheese is a baby and I haven't seen any hanky panky between those two. We will know for sure if she has the babies before the end of Febuary. I can't wait! These two piggies are a hoot to watch, I can only image newborn pigs :)

Nothing else really going on except trying to get my house cleaned and organized before Spring.

Enjoy the weekend ya'll! Hopefully it warms up for all of us!

  1. One day it will be warm and you hubs will be out walking around normally. Just keep repeating that!

  2. It's a good sign your hubby is starting to go bonkers. That means he's healing! Sounds as though you have plenty, and then some, going on around your place. Yes, this frigid weather has created more challenges than any of us want concerning water . . . trying to keep it unfrozen for the critters and unfrozen in the house pipes!

We had a slight warm up today, but guess what? Down, down, down into nearly unbearable temps again for the next several days here in norther Minnesota. Whadda winter!

  3. Kelly,

This weekend it should warm up real nice for both of us.

I know you have your hands full, especially now with hubby home and he's not able to do much. It truly is a good thing he's getting antsy while trying to heal.

Don't work to hard, and try to take some time for yourself this weekend.

  5. ^^ AHahaha Stephen!!! I would have too!
Kelly! Sorry to read about your husbands accident. Glad he's doing better!
I've not been blogging either. I blame it on nothing to write about and the fact that it's Arctic temps here, again. Looking forward to the spring for sure.
PS I love pigs! They are really funny to watch!

  6. Congrats on the guinea pigs. I recently started raising long hair ones. They are so much fun. Amazingly males can breed at only 3 weeks old. I had a litter of 3 little boys. I separated them for a day or 2 from their Mom, and when I tried putting them back with her for a visit they tried breeding her. Naughty little bugs. Make sure she isn't with the male when she has her babies, because as soon as they are born she will come back into heat.
They sure are amazing little creatures, bouncing around right after being born.

    1. My boy has long hair and my girl has short hair, they are both really cute. I think I've enjoyed the piggies more than my kids. Every night when I feed them Veeta squeals for her veggies. I hand feed them for awhile and then let them have at it. I love the noises they make. I will take a picture of our cage, I have spent a lot of time on it.
I'm going to separate them soon. I bet she was preggers when I got her since he hasn't tried anything. Can't wait for babies :)

  7. My kids want a guinea pig, but I said no. We have too many animals already. Whew. I bet the babies will be so cute too. Today, I can finally start cleaning. Having water is a blessing.

    1. My husband said I was crazy! We also have too many animals to feed as it is, but they are so cute! I got my boy when he was 24 days old. I had to hide him for 10 days until Santa brought him and his palace to my little one, so she missed his super cute littleness. I can't wait for the babies :)

    2. I hear those little guinea pigs are good deep fried so if the collapse happens you got extra food stores right there.

    3. Ha! I actually thought about that. It's gross but in an eat or die situation, deep fried guinea pig it is :)
