I pulled weeds in my raised beds. It felt good to have dirt run in between my fingers! The broccoli and brussel sprouts leaves are a little droopy but with this sun and a good drink of water, I think they will perk back up. I harvested a handful of beets, they look a little woody. I've never grown them before and I think I put them in a little late but I'm going to try and cook them anyway :)
Cleaned the goat pen, and now I'm going to get some paint to finish the new chicken coop!
Have a great weekend!!!!
Your broccoli looks great. I 'harvested' mine along with the cauliflower yesterday. I had 6 heads of cauliflower & 3 heads of broccoli. The largest of any of them was about the size of a baseball ... lol. Regardless, I'm going to make mashed brociflowers tomorrow. May be enough to have at least one meal.
ReplyDeleteImpressive harvest!
DeleteThe first batch of broccoli I harvested was three huge heads. I made soup with it! My husband isn't looking forward to the beets. I have never ate them and I'm not sure what to do with them, so thank goodness for the internet ☺
Broccoli looks really good. I am wondering if its still too late to put some in here. Last year i did them and had a nice crop.
ReplyDeleteSenior and I are re-doing my raised beds. All I have in right now are collards greens. But getting ready to start some radishes. yummm
I would go for it! I try to keep gardening as long as possible ☺ I'm going to start my seeds this weekend! I'm ready for spring!!!!
DeleteKelly,
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed you still have things growing over winter. Your beets and broccoli look wonderful. Agreed, a little more water and I think the sprout leaves will pick themselves up.
I have kept them covered when the temps are below 28 at night. It's a pain in the rear but worth it so far ☺
DeleteWow, that looks good, I still have greens but they are getting pretty worn looking from the cold and now snow.
ReplyDeleteNothing growing here. I am glad you still have stuff growing. It looks good!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, thanks for stopping by to see my hula girl whirligig. Your produce looks great, especially looking at it from our snowy sub freezing environment
ReplyDeleteLooks good. My gardens are currently covered in horse poo and some snow on top of that. I'm glad for the break of gardening. Always am this time of year, and I look forward to getting it going again this spring!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, you can pickle the beets...You can find recipes online..the basic ingredients are vinegar, sugar,
ReplyDeleteallspice & water..there are other spins on this, but I keep mine simple...I did a dash of cloves to mine...I do not like them just cooked and eaten, but pickeled they are awesome...I have grown them for many years..
