I spoke too soon........

Winter is still here :/

The little one's visit to the ortho was not good. She needs EIGHT baby teeth pulled six of them are on the top. Three on each side of the front teeth. How will she eat? She's gonna look funny and crap it's gonna hurt! I don't know how much this will all cost but with the hubs accident and Christmas still not payed off, it's starting to feel like we are on a sinking ship :/ And to top it all off I stupidly signed her up for softball!!!! So far we have spent 250 bucks and haven't practiced once!!!! After her appointment we went to get her helmet and cleats. I don't know if it's just me but the general public is RUDE! The people that worked at the stores weren't anywhere to be seen to help us out. So after two stores, no cleats, no helmet, several dirty looks and bad attitudes from strangers we said screw it and went to Coney Islander. Not very productive but tasty :) The hubs took her to Wal-Mart and got her bat, glove, balls, and bag. This weekend she is staying with her grandparents and they are taking her shopping for the cleats and helmet. Yeah me, I somehow got out of all this. Which is great since I know nothing about baseball :)

I have 0 kids for the entire weekend. Now this is my kind of vacation!

  1. Kelly, it is not just you. People are very rude and we have become accustomed to "customer no service" as the rule. Strange as it sounds we are shocked when we actually find a clerk that will help us and not be major inconvenienced. Chin up.

    1. The shoppers were the rude ones. The employees were no where to be seen. The guy at Coney Islander was really nice though :)

  3. Wow, you're really getting hit with the financial foul ball (pathetic try at a baseball pun). We signed Rhiannon up for ballet class (a whole seven classes) and ended up spending over $150 and I even made her own tutu and got "discount" shoes...which she'll grow out of in like six months. Ouch. But she's enjoying it.
I had braces put on in eight grade. I hated it, and blame my irrational fear (well, it's rational to ME) of dentists on it. But after the initial pulling of teeth & fitting of braces, I got used to it and of course, now I'm glad my parents got them for me.
    Enjoy your Zero-Kid weekend!

    1. Extra curricular activities are great for kids. My little one needed something to do she was getting lazy. The price of this is unreal though! I think she will be good at it and hopefully she will like it.
My little one is 8. I was a bit overwhelmed by the orthodontists urgency and extreme teeth pulling. Her dentist is really chill and probably won't want to pull that many and will be fine with letting some fall out naturally. I'm not rushing into anything :)

  4. Kelly,

When you least expect it is when multiple situations will happen requiring money, this usually happens to us causing a pinch in the budget. It is a little painful to have that many teeth removed, maybe the doctor can give her a little laughing gas (with an adult present in the room). This may help your little one get through the removal of her teeth. I feel for you, take a deep breath. This too shall pass.

    1. I was feeling overwhelmed yesterday. I have many blessings and our bills are paid. Other people have it worse.
I'm going to not rush into getting her teeth pulled. She has four that are wiggly. The more she can lose at home the better it will be for all of us :)

  5. You want your kids to have the chance to participate in activities that they're interested in, but oh my! Everything is so darn expensive! That includes braces, too, of course. Our daughter's dental work of that kind came in at just under $2000 and that was 25-30 years ago. I shudder to think what it would be today.

The good thing? You won't have to spend any money to have a weekend vacation without the kiddies! Enjoy!

    1. It's almost $3700 now with insurance :/ I think I'm going to slow the process down and let some of her teeth fall out naturally. The orthodontist thinks we should get it done right away, I think we will wait a little while :)
Your right about saving money! I spent $15 at the store and bought the fixins for two yummy dinners :)

  6. Use to be the customer was always right. Not any longer. I hate going to town on Friday but had to fetch Grandson so I di a little shopping. I actually had two very nice clerks. One at Sams Club and one at Tractor Supply. They almost bent over backwards to help me.

Lowes was a different matter and I spent the most money there. Papa Bear needs a nail gun to make his life easier. I had questions. I started to tell the guy not to break a sweat or anything to help me. I also purchased a roll of roofing for my new pig quarters. The cashier called someone to get it for me and told me to park in the loading zone and they would bring it out. Ten minutes later I went back in to see if they forgot. She called someone again. I waited by the roofing as I had seen some bad rolls. Sure enough when the guy showed up five minutes later he grabbed a bad roll. I told him I was not taking that home to my husband!...LOL He got me one out of the middle and asked me kind of sarcastic like if that one was OK.....never smiled once! I thanked him anyways.

    1. When we go to the little town west of us to shop people are nicer. In the big town it's a whole different place. I feel like Dorothy, I just want to click my heels together and get back home :)
