They've hatched!!!!!

This morning I woke to very loud peeping! One of the chicks had hatched ☺ It was like Christmas waking my youngest daughter up! When I got back home from dropping off my girls to school, my green egg baby had hatched ☺ While calling my husband to tell him the good news I noticed one more egg wiggling, grabbed my phone and video'd the hatching of the third ☺ I don't know how to get the videos off my phone, sorry because it was awesome! So as of right now three of the five eggs have hatched, I have the brood box warming up and ready to go. I'm a little nervous about the temp and humidity in the incubator for the baby chicks. The temp is 99.5 and the humidity has gotten as high as 85% I don't know if it's wet chicks making it rise or what. Should I lower the temp a hair? I may just leave everything as it is, they are peeping and sleeping so I think their okay! Happy Day!!!

  2. When the hen raises the chicks they stay under her but also spend time out of the heat so I try to arrange my brooder to where they can get to places out of the heat if they get too warm. And congratulations!

  3. The little ones should probably go out of the incubator and into the brooder asap now. Congrats on your very first homestead hatched chicks! Isn't it fun?

    1. I put them in the brooder after noon today! I had read they need to stay in for six hours or more but they weren't fluffing up because of the humidity and I couldn't quit worring about them! Once they were in the brooder they dried right up. They are soo cute they all have feathered feet ☺

    1. I think we will wait to name them for a little while they are soo small and they all act the same right now. Wake up peep around, fall back asleep, then repeat! This has been a great thing for our family! It's amazing to see them hatch ☺
