Chicken ER

I think one of my hens has an impacted crop! I kept thinking all day that she has a tumor or something, upon further binging I think it's an impacted crop caused from the alfafa hay in the goat barn where she likes to lay her eggs. I'm going to make dinner real quick and when the hubs gets home we are going to put olive oil and water into her mouth and massage her crop. She will have to stay in her own cage and will only get water with ACV in it until she is better. I will let you all know if this works or not, fingers crossed she's one of my first birds and I would hate to lose her :(

  1. Hmmmm, wish I could help you. We've had our share of chicken problems, but never an impacted crop. Keep us updated & hope for the best :)

  2. Oh, and BTW, I got your gift in the mail, thank you. Never would have though of doing that, it's very handy & we used it just about a half hour ago to light the wood stove!

    Thanks again!

  3. This happened to us this year also. I did not catch it as quickly as you have. I hope it works out quickly.

  6. It's a good idea to keep them separated till it clears up. Chickens have a bad habit of picking on the weak or sick ones.
