  1. Looks like you need a couple of barn kitty-cats!

    1. We have several cats that run around our street. If only they would come visit the barn...................:)

  2. Kelly,

You can get 99 cent mouse traps, put some peanut butter on the end and the little critters will go for it.

    1. I'm trying this bucket for now. So far not one mouse, so I might need to get some traps by the end of the week. Those little guys freak me out while I'm trying to milk the goat :p

  3. Yep, our barn cats are excellent mousers, and even the rooster killed one once.

    1. I'm not a big fan of cats. We have too many running around out here. I wish one would run into the barn and eat those mice lol!!!

  4. My barn cats just seem to watch em run around and then go get more cat food.

In fact I swear I saw one sharing with a mouse once.

    Interesting trap you got there.

    1. LOL!!! The cat sharing food with the mouse sounds like something that would happen around here!
I'm not rushing out to get a cat anytime soon or ever ;)
I hope this trap works, so far it's a bust!

  5. The mice heard about your kind heart, and decided to move in for the winter. Now you try to drown them?

    1. Ha! If they weren't so disgusting and creepy they would be kind of cute :)

  6. Poor little mousie! He is so cute, you should keep him for a pet.

  7. Huh... I've never seen one with a soda can. I made a couple with pie pans a while back when we were having problems with rats. I only caught a few young ones with it. Yours looks like it would work better.
We have 3 cats and they are useless! You can kill the rodent and set it in front of them and they won't eat it!

  8. My little black cat caught one, and brought it inside (alive) to show us, and to play with. Once I got the cat under control, it was easy enough to chase the mouse back out. Boy was little kitty upset at loosing her mouse!

    1. Uggghh I would die if a cat brought me a mouse. That's why I only have dogs :)

  9. I saw a hen catch a small mouse once, she thrashed it to death then ran off to eat it before anyone caught her and stole it . I used to make traps out of tin cans, coat hanger and rubber bands to catch mice.

    1. That's crazy! I wasn't sure if chickens would eat mice so I didn't want to use poison to kill them, I hope my trap works :/

  10. Please let me know if this works! I was thinking of employing a fleet of barn cats to help us out!

    1. So far it hasn't worked. The mice are really small so I moved the can closer to the board. I hope to have at least one in there by morning :)

  11. About using poison. Yes the chickens do eat mice. My Mom raises chickens and they get a hold of mice quite often. They always run around making lots of noise showing off to the other chickens what they caught. They will also eat all they babies out of a mouse nest if one is uncovered. But the bad thing about putting out poison is that when the mice eat it they poop the poison out, and the chickens will eat those turquoise poops around the yard, and it will kill the chickens. We have had it happen.

  12. I catch them in catch em alive traps and let them go in the woods.

That is, if the barn cats don't kill them first.
