31 days or less.......

My does udder changed this weekend. The hubs actually noticed and said "well I guess she is pregnant" He may not survive this birthin' LOL!!!! Her ligaments have gone soft, came back, one would go and one would stay, then finally yesterday they were both soft and this morning they are still soft but I can still feel one. It seems like they are wider on her back than before. The time is getting closer for sure ☺
We introduced the 10 teenage chicks to the flock yesterday. They have been in a pen inside the chicken run for a month so everyone has seen each other they just hadn't mingled. It's pretty cute to watch. Little black Silkie is without a doubt my favorite chickie. When I pick her up she coo's ♥ that bird. I need to sell about 15 more baby chicks but I've been procrastinating. Not a big fan of dealing with strangers.
I think the baby bun is a boy. He is a doll but I don't need another boy, so he will go to a new home when he's old enough. I'm not sure I want to continue with cute rabbits. I would like to try my hand at meat rabbits. I just don't know what to do with the buns I have and my youngest is really attached to them :/
Planted the most beautiful grape vines yesterday. It took longer than I thought so the big garden will be planted today since it's supposed to be over 80* and I'm hoping the garden won't be as muddy ☺
Hope everyone has a great week! Happy Monday ya'll!

  1. We are getting the rain here in VA now but it is light mostly so it soaked in good. I have everything planted except for things that wait for after frost.
Chickens can be really cruel to each other, guess it is a natural thing for them as even the hens can do it to the chicks. I guess the strong ones survive.

    1. The hens are meaner to the new kids than the roosters. I think the roosters are too busy trying to get the ladies LOL!!!!

  2. The Hoo-Hoo watch continues!

How are you training your grapes? Up a trellis? Poles? Willy-nilly?

    1. I put them on the outside of the chicken run, but with a protective fence on the inside to keep the chickens from eating them. Our grandpa was like "why did you put those here" then he saw the rounded fence on the other side and said "oh that's smart, I like it"
I don't think Hoo-Hoo watch is ever going to end! She looks weirdly skinny today. Her back bone is very pronounced and her sides are hollow, it's making me nervous. I hope the baby is okay :/

    3. Oooh I hope your right! I googled skinny pregnant goat and found a pic of a doe that looked just like mine does right now and her goat had a baby five days later, I'm hoping this will happen to us too ☺

  3. Ahh the waiting continues. Can't wait till she pops! Try not to stress too much about her.
Gotta get past the "cute" factor of the bunnies before you can eat them. We gave a doe (all the responsibilities with it) to our daughter and a buck (all the responsibilities of it) to another daughter for keeps to breed them. That seems to have gotten them past the attachment of others to come. We tell them up front they are not pets and will not be staying. Kinda some tough love, but they understand. That's life on a farm. And other does can be kept for more breeding. Just something to think about. Hope it works out for you!

    1. I can't help to worry it's in my nature. The hubs is soo sick of goat watch 2013. He thinks I will be just as bad when the baby comes. I probally will LOL!!!!
I went with a cute bunny for my first critter because I didn't think I could kill a rabbit. Is it good to eat? Worth raising for food even? I hear it's expensive to buy in the store so that must say something. I guess I need to try rabbit before I get all into the meat rabbit biz :)

    1. We are looking pretty much the same back there. The ligaments are really loose when they are gone but they do come back :/

  5. Kelly,

That is great news, now you need to whisper in your goats ear to hurry up and deliver that baby :-)

    1. With our weather today I've told her to hold that baby in. She doesn't listen to anything I say anyway. Oh well if she does have it tonight the baby goat sweater I crocheted won't go to waste :)
