180

The stress Thursday and Friday of the chicken eating dog, the loss of my chickens, and the cold rainy weather really got me down. I should have known Saturday when I sat for hours watching Alaska The Last Frontier on Netflix, didn't cook dinner, and jumped on everyone about letting me be lazy for once that something was up. Last night I waited until the last of the daylight to do my chores and when I looked in on the bunnies and baby chicks it was the first time I smiled in days. Love those baby critters ♥

Today is better. I didn't have murderous nightmares so I woke up happy. I've kept my chickens penned up the last two days and they are all still alive and my anxiety is gone. Got all my girls to school, a little late, daylight savings had them dragging their feet this morning but all were happy and not grouchy for once. Have taken down all the wind breaks in the chicken/bunny yard to air out coops and hutches. I'm wearing a t-shirt and shorts while working today. My spirit needed this weather, my skin needed to feel the warmth of the sun, and my body needed this extra physical activity :)

I hope you all have a wonderful day and the ones that are lucky enough to have nice weather, ENJOY IT!!!!!

  1. Good weather goes a loooonnnng way toward helping our spirits, doesn't it? We've hit a high of the low 40s here in northern MN today and, believe me, it feels WONDERFUL. We haven't seen the thermometer climb this high since last October. Just as soon as I finish breakfast and lunch dishes, I'm loading up the truck and heading for Recycling with a big load! How's that for celebrating??

    1. We are getting back down to the 50's tomorrow. Yesterday was high 70's and today was 85*. It is awesome!!!!!
Your idea of celebrating is something that always puts me in a good mood too. Getting that stuff out of the house and helping the environment, good times :)

  4. I am so sorry about the loss of your chickens. I have had that happen also. One of my dogs will do that. It is their instinct and some of them just don't know better. I fence in the remaining hens except for a couple of roosters who free range and have actually killed a copperhead snake !
This farming business is tough sometimes on your heart and soul, but I know the animals know that we care for them. Have a glorious day !

    1. Thank you Jane. Luckily my dogs are great around the chickens :)
I had to butcher some extra roosters today since all the chickens are penned up. It was heart breaking but necessary. I'm sure my hens would thank me if they could speak English :)

  5. Good to hear you are back to yourself :) Nothing like coming out of a very grey cold winter into the sun of spring to lift your spirits! You'll be outside whacking weeds out of the garden in no time!
