What I did yesterday

The hubs had plans to weed wack when he got off work, which is favorite thing to do, ha! So I decided to protect my newest grape vines and raspberry plants. I pulled grass up by the handfuls and made 12 trips to the front of my house to gather pavers to go around the grape vines. The weather was humid and hot. I was sweating like crazy in places that normally don't sweat and my glasses were sliding off my face. I battled rolie polies, a scorpion, and a tarantula but the grape vines were protected :) I went inside (dang the ac felt good) put my contacts in and grabbed a bandana to tie around my forehead. Although I got the sweating under control I was beat lazy and decided to protect this plant with less heavy bricks. We found these bricks in the rubble after our fence row was plowed down. Our new 2 acres was used as a dump back in the 50's so there is a lot of concrete, rebar, bricks, and just a bunch of crap in there. It's pretty bad but we are going to try and cover most of it with dirt. Anyways these bricks are cool. The red ones were used to make roads back in the day and the yellow ones are dated in the 1920's.
Little helper :)

  2. Very smart girl to put the "protection" around the plants before the weed eating man went to work. Years ago I bought a clematis specifically for my husband because he likes them so much. Planted it along a fence line, weeded and mulched it, we both stood in front of it and admired it more than once. So far, he's mowed it down twice. Men and their tools! (Tell that helper bunny to run when he hears the weed eater fired up!)

  3. Men and Weedeaters are a dangerous pair! Not sure what they think about while weedeaten or if they think for that matter. More than once have I followed him around to make sure things stayed where they are suppose to.... Love Mtn Man but sometimes I think he has blank moments don't know if your does.....
Bunny foo foo better run fast and hard when the weedeater comes around.....

  4. Those old brick sell on craigslist so they are a good find just to use if nothing else. I would put a brick on each morning glory vine that you planted. lol

  5. Love those old bricks. we got some up at the SC estate that used to be part of an old fireplace.
Senior wants to take them and makes us a firepit one day.

  6. VERY cool on the old bricks find! I wish the previous owners of our place dumped more than diapers, kitty litter, broken glass and mattresses in their garbage heap.
