Turtle

The other day, on my way to the chicken pen, I accidentally stepped on this little snapper. Little one thought it was dead and buried it. Later that afternoon she told me something dug it up and ate it. I said "maybe it wasn't dead when you buried it and it dug itself out" Next day near the porch was the poor little snapper who had been buried alive, lol!

  1. Ah, they're cute when they're small....I just moved one across the road recently by having it clamp its jaws on a stick! I moved it fast, let me tell you!

  2. Oh my. We had a very large one walk out of the ditch and across the grass. I had to laugh because it had a mound of mud on it's back.

  4. I see them around here from time to time. The little ones are nice but don't step on big mama!

  6. They should be migrating all over about now. I will find them in ruts filled with water and puddles until July now prolly.

  7. poor snapping turtle...makes for a good story though. We saw a baby red eared slider in our yard a few weeks ago...I went out to catch him so I could take him to a pond, and he was all ready gone.. : (
Hope he didn't get hit by a car.

  9. That's classic!!! Something that my little guy would do as well :) I wish ours were that small, they are HUGE out here, and will chase you down if you disturb them on their way to their "nest" to lay their eggs.
