I'm not normal!!!
I went to Walmart last night, I had to, I hadn't been in forever and we were out of alot of things. Walking through the aisles of CRAP made me long for sturdy well made products. Where are they? Everything is soo disposable its sad. I avoided the toy isle completely... I have a small child and I know what happens to most of those "cool right now" toys, they end up at the Goodwill! I did find my neice, what I think is a nice present. I still have alot of presents to get and not alot of time especially if I want them to be thoughtful gifts. Anyway, heres why I feel "not normal". Last Christmas eve my husband built me a compost bin! It was a great present! This year I want a clothesline, so I can save on energy costs and dryer sheets, outdoor fresh you can't get anymore outdoor fresh than being outside!!!! My dad is building me a rain barrel! I've been wanting one for awhile but had to get guttering first LOL!!! These are presents a "normal" woman shouldn't want!!! What are my blog girlfriends wanting for Christmas? Hopefully I'm not alone in my weirdness ☺

You're not alone, farmgirl!
ReplyDeleteI want my screened in porch and office cleaned out by my hoarding (I think) husband. He piles boxes to the rafters. Otherwise I want a solar powered radio.
ReplyDeleteI asked DH for a "Hot Shot"....it's a cattle (or in my case, goat) prod!
ReplyDeleteI think these are wonderful gifts to want!!!! When getting my home and 6 acres 15 yrs ago, I wanted a barn, animals, garden, compost, pond, clothesline etc.....what I got was d*i*v*o*r*c*e! I still have my house and garden and a wonderful new hubby and My sense of humor even tho my dreams were not totally fulfilled. (I'm OVER IT NOW) My close girlfriend wanted a SHOP VAC for a gift, she loves it and rants and raves about it!...So girl, You are NORMAL-go for it and live the DREAM!! I loved this posting, Kelly! Have a wonderful and blessed week! Roxie
ReplyDeleteFor Christmas I would just like to feel good for a change.
ReplyDeleteNope your not alone in the "weird" things you want! I think they are great. And I love my clothes line! I don't have a compost bin, I had pigs and have chickens! And when it threatens power outages a rain barrel would be wonderful, but I place buckets under the eves to catch it. I would like one one day though! I think your just awesome for wanting better then "normal" in your life farmer girl!
ReplyDeleteAnd most of the toys at Walmart are junk, and I avoid that store like the plague.
I really don't want the girlie type gifts. I want rain barrels, more ammunition, more jars for canning, and a coupon from hubby giving me a day of total relaxation. Yes, I'm strange what can I say.
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone... I asked for cash so I could order me a super duper American Canner that you can use over a campfire if need be. It will be here December 10th. I'm so excited I've got to slaughter something when it arrives. Watch out chickens and turkeys!

ReplyDeleteNo you are not weird. Most toys are junk. Ive been selling and cleaning out tons of them. I am pretty happy with the boys this year, all they seem to want is Lots of Legos, and new bikes. atleast its constructive things.
ReplyDeleteAs for me, I would like a "project rifle" a real beat up POS with a wooden stock, so that I can strip it all down, sand it, and restain it. So, my friend you are not weird in your wish list. last year I got a 500 round box of bright shiney 9mm ammo, and a new tactical gun bag. I wouldnt mind this year a really nice camera...
Definitely not alone. I asked for a manual pasta maker, some weck jars (they are just so pretty & I only want a few), a new pepper mill, new sweat pants & anything garden related (would love a seed of the month subscribtion!). Along w/help in getting the country garden primed. I already bought myself a new pressure canner & FoodSaver. And, we have a friend w/access to plastic pallets which he keeps promising to bring over. We only need 8 to go ahead & build our compost bins at the country house ... hope he comes through. I'm tired of transporting vegie ends, coffee grounds & such back to the city house to compost.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh you sound like me when we went to Walmart lol.And (wink) I know I'm wierd!
